Nila M. King (Steinbauer), nee Jansen, Waupaca, WI, passed into eternal rest September 18th, 2014 at the age of 91.
Nila was born on July 27, 1923 on the Jansen family dairy farm in Portage County. Her parents, George and Myra Jansen, had three children: Ruth, Raymond, and Nila was the baby of the family. Nila married J. B. King (Steinbauer) and they also had three children: Dennis (wife Diane Potratz), Virginia (husband Robert Hoepner), and David. They spent a majority of their adult lives in the Milwaukee area. Nila was a loyal employee of Sears & Roebuck Co. for 40 years. In her retirement, Nila moved back up north to Waupaca and enjoyed living close to her sister Ruth, brother-in-law Phil Cook, and grand-niece Nicole. Nila was a member of the Parfreyville United Methodist Church from 1997 until her passing. She enjoyed word puzzles, visits from her family, and exercising her sense of humor.
Nila is survived by her son, Dennis (Diane) King; her daughter, Virginia (Robert) Hoepner; three grand-children, seven great-grand-children, extended family, and friends. Nila was preceded in death by her husband John in 1995, her son David, her parents, brother Ray Jansen, and sister Ruth Cook.
A funeral service will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Blackburn – Parfreyville United Methodist Church, officiating. A visitation will be held at the Holly Funeral Home on Saturday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the First Belmont Cemetery, Twp. of Belmont, Portage County, WI. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
