Erna C. Leitner, age 96, of New London, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at St. Joseph Residence in New London, where she had been a resident the past 10 years.
She was born on July 25, 1918, daughter of the late Albert and Alma (Flink) Huebner. On October 26, 1940 she was united in marriage to John G. Leitner Jr. in Sugar Bush at the home of her parents. He preceded her in death in 1996. Erna worked at various jobs through the years. She lived a long life and lived it to the fullest. She did it in her own unique way. She especially loved being with her family and friends. Erna loved to cook and bake. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Sugar Bush.
She is survived by: a daughter, Darlene (Harold) Duprey, Shiocton; grandchildren: Darren (Jenni) Duprey, and Darren’s children, Samantha, Riley and a step-daughter Sheau; Chris (Melissa) Kohl, and their children Tucker and Sawyer; Leah (James) Roath, and their children Jordan and Marisa; Polly (Walter) Fitzgerald, and their children Brooke and Cambria; Mike (Colleen) Duprey, and their children Julie and Harold; Jared (Dana) Duprey, and their children Kayla, Trent, and Dereck; Pandra (Ryan) Bush, and their daughter Brinley; a sister-in-law, Luella Huebner, also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, a daughter Bonnie (Wayne) Kohl, an infant son Arthur; brothers: Earl (Blanche) Huebner, Arthur (Ina) Huebner and Carlton (Flora) Huebner.
A memorial service for Erna will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Sugar Bush with Rev. Preston Heuer officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Readfield. A gathering of family and friends will be held directly at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Leukemia Society. The Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London is serving the family.
