Dwaine C. Herter, age 77, New London died on October 13, 2014, of natural causes.
He was born on March 9, 1937, in New London, son of the late Cecil and Janet (Thayer) Herter. Dwaine served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War, four years active and four years inactive. He formerly worked at the Edison and at the Neenah Foundry for 30 years. On August 22, 1959, he married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Wangeline. They celebrated 55 years together this year. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dwaine loved watching the Badgers and Packers and enjoyed hunting and bass fishing.
Dwaine is survived by: his wife Mary; three daughters: Suezzette Hermes, Lisa (John) Defferding and Cheryl Herter; four grandsons: Mark (Deanne) Herter; Kiel (Jaime Dewhurst) Hermes; Dylan and Logan Defferding; five great-grandsons: Texas, Scott, Kaine, Landon, and Mason and one special great-granddaughter, Mariah. He is further survived by his brother Jerry (Diane) Thayer and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob (Mary) Wangeline, other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents, son Mark, father and mother in-law, Ervin and Dorothy (Dempsey) Wangeline, brothers-in-law, Earl and DuWayne Wangeline and a sister-in-law, Sheila Halsey.
A Memorial services will be held for Dwaine on Thursday, October 16, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London with Rev. Greg Watling officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Full Military Rites will be held.
