New London School Board member wins award

October 16, 2014

School District of New London school board member Virginia Schlais was recognized by the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) for her commitment to the School District of New London.

She was one of only two Level 5 award recipients, the highest honor noted.

Schlais earned this recognition by attending training opportunities by the Wisconsin Association of School Boards focused on student achievement and improving public education.

WASB Executive Director John Ashley recognized Schlais’ accomplishment at the WASB Regional Meeting on Thursday, Oct. 9.

“As I have promoted education in our district, I have also committed myself to my own education regarding my role as a school board member and advocate for our students and district,” said Schlais. “It is a privilege to serve in this role.”

“I commend Virginia Schlais for her efforts to improve educational opportunities for the young people in the community and to diligently work at ensuring an effective governing body,” said Ashley. “I thank Virginia for her work on behalf of public education in Wisconsin.”
