Ruth L. Christian, age 94, of Waupaca, WI, passed on peacefully to her heavenly home, Friday, October 24, 2014, at Riverside Medical Center.
Ruth was born July 3, 1920, in Barrington IL and grew up in Wauconda, IL, daughter of the late Walter W. and Beatrice (Kimball) Banks. Ruth married Herman C. Christian, October 28, 1944, and raised their family in Des Plaines, IL. They were married 63 years. They spent 17 years of retirement in Haines City, FL, before moving to Waupaca in 2006. Ruth loved being a wife, mom, homemaker and caregiver. She enjoyed time with family and friends and activities such as dancing, swimming, racquetball and reading.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann Christian, Fremont, WI; a granddaughter, Lisa Dalton, Arcadia, CA; three great-grandchildren: Stephen, Amanda and Kathryn Morse. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, David Williams; her second husband, Herman; her son, David E. Christian and three sisters: Irma, Mary and Beatrice.
A special thank you to Riverside Medical Center nurses, Dr. Earl Anderson and Theda-Care at Home (Hospice) for their outstanding and compassionate care the past six weeks. It was so appreciated by Ruth and her daughter, Ruth Ann. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 30, 12 p.m. at Calvary Chapel Church, 2136 E. Newberry St., Appleton WI, with Pastor Dwight Douville, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Wounded Warriors, Cancer Research Institute Center (or any cancer organization of your choosing). The Holly Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
