McCarville, John E. Jr.,

John E. McCarville Jr., age 85, of Big Falls passed away Monday, October 27, 2014 at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah. 

John Edmund McCarville Jr. was born on February 21, 1929 in Milwaukee to John and Beatrice (Abramoff) McCarville Sr. He graduated from Menomonee Falls High School in 1948 and served in the Merchant Marines in the Great Lakes area for several years. John was united in marriage on February 18, 1950 to Ruth C. Klein at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Menomonee Falls. He was a devoted husband and a loving father who liked to keep his family close. John worked as a supervisor at Continental Can Company, Milwaukee, from the early 1950’s to the mid 1960’s. He also worked for several years in the foundry at Falk Corporation, Milwaukee. In 1967 he began doing construction as a pipe fitter with the Steamfitters Local 601, Milwaukee. The couple settled in Big Falls in 1976. In 1981 John became a member of the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 400, Appleton, and retired in 1990. He is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marion, and liked to pray for hours each day for loved ones. John also enjoyed woodworking and made miniature tractors, trucks, and cars out of wood. His favorite pastime was making firewood, reading holistic books, attending family reunions, and singing old Irish songs. 

Survivors include nine children: David (Lulu) of Palatine, IL; Michael (Sue) of Amherst, John (Pat) of Iola, Mary Kay (Keith) Willeford of Yellow Springs, OH; Jim (Mary) of Iola, Kathy (Steve) Lorenz of Belleville, NJ; Thomas (Pat) of Sussex, Judy (Vaughn) Schultz of New London, and Peggy McCarville of Big Falls. There is one daughter-in-law, Linda McCarville of Byron, IL, 20 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. There are four sisters and three brothers: Rita Roskopf of Dewey, AZ; Raymond (Anita) McCarville of Mequon, Molly (Marty) Blonde of Oshkosh, Tim (Evelyn) McCarville of Iola, Terry McCarville of Custer, Margie Campbell of Prescott Valley, AZ, and Gracie (Steve) Boysa of Hartland. He is further survived by a brother-in-law, Roger (Sandy) Klein of Menomonee Falls, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth on Nov. 5, 2013; a son, Dennis; a sister, Rosemary McCarville; a brother, Dick (Betty) McCarville; a brother-in-law, Don Roskopf,and a sister-in-law, Bonnie McCarville. 

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, October 31st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marion. Fr. Patrick Lloyd will officiate and inurnment will be on Saturday at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Menomonee Falls. Friends may call on Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, 207 S. Main St., Marion. Online condolences may be sent via www.beil-didier.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred for Masses in John’s name to St. Mary’s.
