To celebrate the re-election of Gov. Scott Walker, Waupaca County plans a 2 percent tax levy increase. This tax is on top of a 3.73 percent property tax increase proposed by the city of Waupaca the week before.
I’m sure that both the city and the county did their best to cut expenses but couldn’t overcome a $875,000 drop in state funding.
I have no problem with a justified tax increase, but for anyone to claim that property taxes have been reduced is ludicrous. Waupaca voters should keep this in mind when reflecting on the last election.
