Anne Smith, Waupaca, Wisconsin, age 86, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca, WI.
She was born February 9, 1928 in Evanston, IL; daughter of Gilbert and Helen (Calderwood) Buhmann. Anne will be deeply missed by all of her loving family and friends. Anne is survived by James B. Smith of Waupaca, WI; five children: Randall (Gudrun Godare) Smith of Tucson, AZ; Douglas (Carol) Smith of Bloomfield Hills, MI; Conrad Smith of Chicago, IL; Susan (Richard) Leuzinger of Monroe, WI; and Scott (Lori Myszka) Smith of Beaver Dam, WI; four grandsons: Ryne Leuzinger of Santa Cruz, CA; Aaron Leuzinger of Madison, WI; Kevin Smith of Bloomfield Hills, MI, and Nathan Smith of Beaver Dam, WI; five step-grandchildren; fifteen step-great-grandchildren; and close friends, Pat Wolfe, Joyce Boyer, Val Gorski, Lynn Konopacky, and Riene Wells Herriges. She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Noel Ann Smith; three sisters, Sarah, Elizabeth, and Joan; and one brother, Peter. Anne attended the University of Iowa where she was a member of the water ballet team. She attended grade school and high school in her hometown of Evanston, IL. She was coordinator of the Waupaca Senior Citizen Center in the 1970s, and from 1982 to 2006 was a library aide at Waupaca Middle School. Anne was an active volunteer for many organizations throughout her life, including the Waupaca Humane Society. Anne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Waupaca, and was active in the Waupaca Community Chorus for many years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca, WI. Pastor Beth Macha will officiate. A visitation will be held on Monday from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Park in Waupaca at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in the name of Anne Smith. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
