T-Bird girls still unbeaten

Leighten Fischer's 20 points and 10 rebounds helped the I-S girls' basketball team stay unbeaten

Leighten Fischer’s 20 points and 10 rebounds helped the Iola-Scandinavia girls’ basketball team stay unbeaten, as the Thunderbirds handed Marion a 44-13 nonconference defeat Nov. 25.

The Thunderbirds outscored the home team 15-4 in the first quarter, 11-4 in the second, 7-3 in the third and 11-2 in the fourth.

The Mustangs hit only three of 30 shots in the game, while the T-Birds connected on 16 of 54.

Fischer had four steals to go with her double-double, while Brooke Phillips finished with 11 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals; and Kaylin Ellioff had eight points and a team-high six steals.

The T-Birds played at Stratford Dec. 2 and will open Central Wisconsin 8 Conference play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Bonduel. The next home game is Friday, Dec. 12, against Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
