Business owners ask DA for justice

As business owners and citizens of Waupaca County, we are asking that you comply with the request of Waupaca Police Chief Tim Goke in charging the juvenile suspect of recent downtown Waupaca burglaries as an adult.

If the police are asking for this juvenile to be tried as an adult, we trust the chief’s judgment that the consequences for a juvenile offender will not be effective given these circumstances.

It is our understanding that this suspect was involved in approximately a dozen break-ins of Waupaca businesses. Since the suspect has been held in secure detention, there have not been any break-ins of downtown Waupaca businesses.

We pour everything we have into our businesses and this community; we stand in solidarity with those who have been violated as a result of this suspect’s crimes and will not stand for this behavior in our community.

The law-abiding citizens of Waupaca make this community a great place to live; please protect us and our property by keeping this thief off of our streets.

We support law enforcement’s efforts to keep our community safe and secure; we respectfully ask that you compley with the police chief’s request to prosecute this suspect as an adult.

Let’s back up our hard-working law enforecement officers.
