Glenna C. Gjertson, age 74, Waupaca, WI, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Riverside Medical Center.
She was born in Iola on January 18, 1940, the daughter of the late Walter and Laura (Johnson) Rasmussen. On November 14, 1959, Glenna married James Gjertson at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Iola. She worked 32 years for Waupaca County in the judicial and Register of Deeds offices. Glenna retired in 1998 as the elected Waupaca County Register of Deeds. Glenna enjoyed sewing and crocheting special gifts for family and friends. For many years she organized the annual gathering of the Secret Lefse Society to make lefse for the holidays. Glenna loved spending time with her family and was proud of her children and grandchildren and she is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Glenna is survived by her husband: James Gjertson, Waupaca; her children: Terri Brooks, Waupaca; Timothy (Michele) Gjertson, DeForest and Tammy Schiedermayer (Phil Graham), Waupaca; her grandchildren: Alyssa (Brandon) Brooks McPeak, Waupaca; Kelsey (Tom) Link, Minneapolis, MN; Zoey Brooks, Madison, WI; Sydney Brooks, Waupaca; Hannah and Maxwell Gjertson, DeForest, WI; Matthew Schiedermayer, St. Paul, MN and Holly Schiedermayer, Chicago, IL; her brother: James Rasmussen, Port Edwards, WI; her sister: Ardis Winters (Steve Rosenthal), Plover, WI; her sister-in-laws: Melody Rasmussen, Holmen, WI, Barb Langston (Phil), West Salem, WI, and her best friend Yvonne Rasmussen, Waupaca. Also surviving are many brothers/sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Phillip & Roger Rasmussen and her sister-in-law Charleen Rasmussen.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a Memorial Service beginning at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waupaca with Reverend Beth Macha, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenna Gjertson’s name. Holly Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
