Barbara, Ann and Robert.
Barbara lives in Colorado. Ann has an independent living home at Bethany and also lives in Florida. Robert lives nearby on Gilbert Lake.
Bud and Margurite also have seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
After his years of active duty, he served 12 years in the Reserves and had his own construction company in Appleton.
“I built over 300 homes in Appleton and built the Manawa Nursing Home and the Fremont condos,” Bud said.
In 1978, they moved to Florida, where he became a building inspector.
After he retired, they moved to the mountains in North Carolina.
They lived there for 13 years before moving back to Florida for another 13 years.
“When I retired in Florida the first time, we drove to Fairbanks, Alaska and all around the country,” Bud said.
They covered more than 22,000 miles and described it as “a whole summer of fun.”
Moving back to Wisconsin in August of 2013 turned out to be “better than I expected,” he said.
Bud went to Camp Onaway on the Chain O’ Lakes during his youth and remembers swimming in the lakes.
The couple also has a photo of the two of them, taken in the area.
Now ages 95 and 92, Bud and Margurite received a blessing from Bethany Home’s chaplain on their anniversary.
“We were lucky we had three good kids who didn’t give us any trouble,” Bud said.
Margurite said they tried to live a good Christian life, because “so many things happen, and you don’t know how you’re going to get through it.”
