New London man charged with hit and run

Donald K. Wing, 50, New London, is charged with felony hit and run causing injury, misdemeanor intimidation of a victim and disorderly conduct.

At about 10:40 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputy Bryan Strobusch responded to a reported crash at the intersection of County Trunk W and Cut Off Road in the town of Caledonia.

When he arrived, Strobusch found a pickup truck with a woman driver and a male passenger. They both complained of injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash was no longer at the scene, according to the criminal complaint.

The occupants of the pickup said they were on County W when they collided with a van that ran through a stop sign.

The driver of the van, later identified as Wing, allegedly exited his vehicle and began yelling at the driver of the pickup that she had ruined his life.

As Wing’s behavior apparently became more erratic, the male occupant grabbed his keys. Wing then ran away into the woods, the complaint says.

Wing was identified from a photo lineup.

He has also been cited for failure to yield right of way, failure to notify police of an accident and operating while suspended.
