Robert Arden Koplien died at his home on Saturday, December 20, 2014 in New London, due to a heart attack. He was 61.
Robert was born on January 2, 1953 in New London to his parents, Arden and Edna (Hahn) Koplien. Robert graduated from New London High School in 1971. Following graduation, he began work at Saputo Cheese in New London, where he worked 43 years. After many years together, he married Carol Desmond on March 20, 2009. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London. Robert loved 4 wheeling and camping at Hodag in Rhinelander.
Robert is survived by his wife, Carol; mother, Edna Koplien; son, Jared Koplien; daughter, Shelley Koplien; Carla Mueller (mother of his children); step-son Cory (Jackie) Desmond and son Henry; step-daughter Cathy (Tom) Schulz and children Tyler, David, and Nick. Robert also had a very large family including his siblings: Kathy (Duane) Baehman, Carol (Bill) Eskofski, Mary (Mark) Dittman, Nancy (Tom) Huebner, Russell (Bonnie) Koplien, Stanley (Janet) Koplien, Cindy (John) Flease, and Sandy (Mike) Flease. He is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Arden Koplien and father-in-law Victor Anderson.
A memorial service for Robert will take place on Tuesday, December 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with Rev. William Heiges officiating. A gathering of family and friends will take place at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London from 4-7 p.m. on Monday and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
