Anderson, Katheryn ?Cay?

Katheryn “Cay” Anderson passed away December 26, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was 91 years old. 

Born in Chicago April 3, 1923, she attended Alvernia High School graduating in 1941. She married her sweetheart, Russell, Memorial Day Weekend 1943. After a career in accounts receivable/payable, she and Russ retired to Land ‘O Lakes. She later moved to Waupaca to stay near him in the King Veteran’s home, where she volunteered at Alley Five. She was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary, logging over 10.000 volunteer hours, worked at both the Salvation Army store and the Waupaca County Department on Aging as the Telephone Reassurance Coordinator well into her 80s. Her love for children was unsurpassed and always brought a sparkle to her eyes. 

She is survived by her sons, Richard of Oswego, IL, and Jim (Mary Jo Rice) of Plover, WI; daughter, Kathy (Vince) Versaskas of Huntley, IL, and long-time friend, Elsie Conant of Land ‘O Lakes, WI. She was a proud grandmother to six and great-grandmother to nine. Cay was preceded in death by her husband Russ and parents, Peter and Anna (Krutsch) Wilp; brother Marty, infant sister Katerina, and daughters-in-law, Debbie and Nancy. 

Heartfelt thanks for the warm and tender care she received at the lodge in Plover, the Portage County Healthcare Center, and Saint Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point and her good friends on Otter Drive in Waupaca. The Memorial Service will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Church, Almond, WI. Friends and family may gather on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital is greatly appreciated.
