Advantage Signs business sold

On Jan. 1, Advantage Signs, in New London, was sold by Stacy Huebner to Cindy Shaw of New London.

The business was purchased by Shaw after several conversations with Huebner.

In September of 2014, Shaw had arrived at Advantage Signs to pick up lettering for her husband’s boat. In a lively conversation, Huebner joked about selling the business to Shaw. Soon after, the two businesswomen talked frankly about the prospect.

Shaw asked to shadow Huebner for half days through November and December. Huebner was happy to oblige. Shaw was able to witness day-to-day operations, and felt comfortable with what she saw.

“I was also asking myself how I would handle the shop hours by myself,” Shawa said.

She is a special needs aide a few mornings each week, at New London Middle School.

“Students need stability, and I would not leave them in the middle of the school year,” Shaw said.

The staffing problem was solved from within the family. Shaw’s youngest son, Dan Nollenberg, works at Dominos in New London. He opens the shop for Shaw on the days she is working, and he has graphics experience.

“The machines were a bit intimidating at first,” Shaw said. “I have someone to design logos and meet specific needs customers may have.”

Shaw said that Huebner is just a phone call away if she has questions.

Shaw is thrilled to own and operate a business in her hometown.

“I grew up here and I know the majority of the people who walk in the door. I am experienced in sales, so talking with customers will be easy,” explained Shaw.

With the change in ownership, the name has changed slightly, from Advantage Signs to Advantage Signs & Graphix.

“It was more the legality of having an LLC,” Shaw said.

A business in New London for more than 15 years, Advantage Signs, now Advantage Signs & Graphix, continues to be a reliable local source for signage of all kinds. Shaw said that nothing is to change in terms of what the sign shop offers. Customers can order customized vehicle lettering, exterior and interior signs, banners, yard signs, print apparel for sports teams and clubs, window lettering, digital printing, and embroidery.

Advantage Signs & Graphix is open for business on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. It is closed on Tuesdays. Shaw said special appointments are made for clients who cannot make the scheduled hours.

Shaw can be contacted at 920-982-9825 or e-mail 4signgraphix.com.
