Ione M. Luft, age 92, New London passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015.
She was born on June 12, 1922 in Oshkosh, daughter of the late William and Bessie (Hawley) Opper. On August 7, 1943, she was united in marriage to John Luft. He preceded her in death in 1999. Ione was a hard worker helping her husband at Luft’s Pure Oil Service Station in New London. She was well known for baking cookies and enjoyed giving them to family and friends.
She is survived by: her daughter, Lana Hussin, Kaukauna; son Dennis Luft (friend Rosie), New London; and a sister Betty Bucholtz, Winchester. She is further survived by four grandchildren: Chris (Jen) Hussin, Matt (Ginelle) Hussin, Jason Luft and Leah (Dan) Carter; eight great-grandchildren: Jesse, Jack, Charlie, Georgia, Seanna, Sawyer, Paige, and Morgan, and also other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister Ruth and a brother Collins.
Private family funeral services will be held at a later date. Special thank you to the great staff of St. Paul’s Nursing Home, they have taken such good care of Mom in the past eight years and made her a special part of their family.
