Iola-Scandinavia’s boys’ basketball team improved to 5-1 in Central Wisconsin 8 Conference play Jan. 15 with a 56-44 home win over Weyauwega-Fremont.
W-F outscored the Thunderbird’s 20-17 in the first quarter and 15-9 over the next eight minutes to take a 35-26 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Indians hit six three-pointers in the first half, but the T-Birds held the visitors scoreless in the third quarter and led 44-35 heading into the fourth quarter. I-S added to its lead with a 12-9 advantage in the final period.
Kristian Welch and Alec Lund finished in double figures for the T-Birds with 19 and 14 points, respectively. Bryce Akey led W-F with 16.
