Comets drop three games

Waupaca girls lose to Ripon, Laconia, FVL

The Waupaca girls’ basketball team dropped recent games to Laconia, Ripon and Fox Valley Lutheran.

Laconia handed the Comets a 34-23 nonconference defeat Jan. 17 at JustAgame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells. Waupaca also fell to Ripon 52-25 Jan. 16 and FVL 42-21 Jan. 13.

Laconia 34, Waupaca 23

 The Spartans outscored the Comets 15-7 in the first quarter and led 25-17 at halftime.

Waupaca trailed 31-19 after three quarters and held Laconia to three points in the fourth quarter.

Macie Davidson and Victoria Nowak led the Comets with 10 and nine points, respectively.

Ripon 52, Waupaca 25

Ripon led 14-3 after one quarter, 30-13 at halftime and 42-20 after three quarters before outscoring the Comets 10-5 over the final eight minutes.

Davidson led Waupaca with 14 points, while Marissa Bunge led Ripon with 16.

FVL 42, Waupaca 21

WAUPACA – A 13-2 advantage in the fourth quarter helped the Foxes pull away from the Comets.

FVL led 9-6 after one quarter, 20-15 at halftime and 29-19 after three quarters.

Davidson led the Comets with eight points and FVL’s Bailey Diersen was the only player to score in double figures, as she finished with 11 points.

Waupaca will play at Berlin tonight (Thursday, Jan. 22) before hosting Adams-Friendship at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24.
