Waupaca man charged with felony intimidation

Christopher W. Yakich, 38, Waupaca, is charged with two counts of felony intimidation of a witness, threatening harm using a computer message, threatening injury to a business and misdemeanor bail jumping.

On Jan. 12, Yakich appeared in Waupaca County Circuit Court on msidemeanor charges of battery and disorderly conduct. He was accused of being involved in a fight with the owner’s son at the metal shop in Waupaca where he worked.

Yakich was released from custody on a $1,000 signature bond with the condition that he have no contact with the business or the victim named in the criminal complaint.

Yakich was scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 20. That same day, Waupaca Police Officer Wesley Zube was called out to the metal shop to speak with the owner.

The owner showed Zube a number of text messages Yakich allegedly sent between Jan. 6 and Jan. 19.

According to the Jan. 22 criminal complaint, the messages complain about the charges brought against Yakich, allege he has been secretly recording conversations at the business and threaten to reveal damaging information about the business.

“But I am not evil and I don’t want to do this to you after all you have done for me but I cannot allow your son’s lies to put me back in prison,” one of the messages reportedly say. “I am looking at four years in prison.”

Yakich is currently on probation. Between November 2012 and September 2013, Waupaca County prosecutors filed eight separate criminal cases against Yakich.

In November 2013, he was convicted of three counts of disorderly conduct and five counts of felony bail jumping and placed on four years of probation.

He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of intimidation of a witness and up to six years in prison if his probation is revoked on the felony bail jumping charges.
