A local volunteer was recently selected as the Wisconsin 4-H Outstanding Lifetime Volunteer of the Year.
Deb Schneider, of Weyauwega, has been a Waupaca County 4-H volunteer for 36 years. An organizational leader with the Country Pride 4-H Club, she has been a project leader for cats, visual arts, cloverbuds and exploring.
Beyond the club level, Schneider has been the president of the Waupaca County 4-H Leaders’ Association and also served as a district representative. She has been involved on numerous county committees and serves as a fair superintendent.
She enjoys chaperoning youth trips and working with programs such as 4-H Day Camp and Super Saturday project learning day.
A youth member of Country Pride 4-H Club said, “Deb helps the members of the club make decisions and problem solve to make things better. She has been dedicated to 4-H and all the members for a long time, sharing a lot of her free time.”
“You can always count on Deb to follow through on what she volunteers to do,” said Penny Tank, 4-H program advisor. “She does not have to be in front of the group – she encourages others to take leadership roles. Deb is an extremely strong supporter of the 4-H program in Waupaca County. She stays actively involved in many aspects of the 4-H program and continuously works to make things relevant to the youth of today. ”
