Wisner, Robert J.

Robert, age 82 of Waupaca, WI, after a battle with cancer, passed on into the waiting arms of our Savior Jesus Christ and claimed his promise. 

He was born March 4, 1932 in Merrill, WI, son of Leonard and Rose (Simonson) Wisner. Bob grew up in Wautoma, WI and graduated from Wautoma High School in 1950. He was a top ten student and a talented athlete, lettering in four sports. Bob won many medals and was the 1949 high school state champion in the 120-yard high hurdles. On September 9, 1950, Bob married Joanna N. Townsend. Together they raised four sons and four daughters. Bob and Jo lived in Neenah for many years, where he served nine terms as an elected, west-side supervisor for the Township of Menasha. In 1974, they moved to Fremont where they farmed. He worked in asphalt construction in the Fox Valley area for 50 years, retiring from Kelley Sand & Gravel, Wautoma, and moving to Waupaca, WI. Bob enjoyed volunteering in Waushara County and at the Wild Rose meal site. He donated blood, and walked in fundraisers for Red Cross and Cancer. Bob loved farming, gardening, bird watching, deer hunting, horse racing at county fairs and playing card games, especially cribbage. Through the years, he loved watching his children and grandchildren participate in sporting events. Bob will be deeply missed by his loving family, relatives and special friends. 

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joanna Wisner, Waupaca, WI; his children: Mark (Ellen) Wisner, Horton, KS; Lynnel (Randy) Steingraber, Manawa, WI; Brent (Becky) Wisner, Black Creek, WI; Robin (John) Niespodziani, Waukesha, WI; Leigh (Tom) Edgren, Waupaca, WI; Joni (Scott) Munsch, Wautoma, WI; Jeffrey Wisner (Chuck Pate), Elllettsville, IN; Timothy (Tracy) Wisner, Weyauwega, WI. Bob was blessed with 25 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and three step-grandchildren. He is further survived by one brother, Jack (Eleanore) Wisner; brother-in-law, Ellsworth (Evelyn) Townsend; sisters-in-law, Muriel Blader-Phipps and Sandra (Fred) Yoder; many additional relatives and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Phyllis Wisner Baalrud, two nieces and two granddaughters.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, February 16, 2015, 11:00 a.m., with a visitation prior to the service from 9:30 a.m.–11:00 a.m. Victory Church, E3443 S. Apple Tree Lane, Waupaca, WI with Reverend Adin Crandall officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Holly Funeral Home, Waupaca, is assisting with arrangements. The family of Robert Wisner extends heart-felt appreciation for the care received from the hospice team, nursing staff and all disciplines assisting during his year at Bethany. Special thanks are extended to Dr. M. Bauer, Dr. Gunther and staff for their compassionate service to Bob.
