The 2015 Waupaca County Land Atlas and Plat Book will be available in early fall.
When the county’s 4-H Leaders Board met on Jan. 27, it decided to contract with Mapping Solutions for the 4-H sponsored book.
The hope is that the new plat book, which will include aerial and parcel maps, will be available around Sept. 1. The price will be $30.
The board also decided that evening to reduce the price of the current 2012 book to $15.
“People can purchase the current one now and also the new one in the fall at the Extension office,” said Penny Tank, Waupaca County 4-H program assistant,
She said the book will also be available at chambers of commerce and banks throughout Waupaca County.
The county’s 4-H program sponsors a county-wide plat book about every three to four books, Tanks said.
In March, adult 4-H volunteers will begin soliciting businesses for ads for the upcoming plat book.
Proceeds from the sale of the plat book support Waupaca County 4-H.
About 450 youth in Waupaca County are members of 4-H, Tank said.
They are in kindergarten through one year after high school, she said.
Today’s 4-H includes, science, leadership, healthy living and arts programs.
More than 350,000 Wisconsin youth participate in 4-H and other UW-Extension programs.
There are more than 17,200 adult volunteers and 1,800 youth volunteers who help deliver 4-H programming across the state.
A national study says youth who are involved in 4-H Youth Development excel beyond their peers in the areas of academic achievement, healthy living and civic engagement.
“The sale of the 4-H plat book is a large fundraiser for the county 4-H program. We appreciate past support,” Tank said. “This is the only locally sold plat book that supports the 4-H youth program.”
