Smith wins Clintonville School Spelling Bee

Kelli Smith, a sixth grade student, recently won the Clintonville School Spelling Bee.

Students in grades 4-8 competed in the Clintonville School Spelling Bee Feb. 2 at the Clintonville High School Auditorium. Kevin Godfrey was the moderator, while Joanne Reimer and Chris Van Hoof were judges for the contest. Finishing second to Smith was Emma Vanderbilt, an eighth grade student.

Classroom contestants were: fourth grade, Anistan Mills and Carley Hauser; fifth grade, Skye Dunne and Beth Poppe; sixth grade, Josie Behnke and Smith; seventh grade, Lindsey Kroening and Madison Hohn; eighth grade, Austin Baird and Vanderbilt.

Competing in a spelling bee helps students build confidence and communication skills as students move into their future.
