Red Robins soar over Truckers

A non-conference matchup between the Clintonville girls’ basketball team and the Antigo Red Robins ended in a 36-26 win for the visiting team on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Both teams got off to a slow start and the score was tied, 6-6, after one quarter of play.

The Truckers started the second quarter with a 5-0 run to take an 11-6 lead, but sloppy play through the remainder of the frame left the home team trailing 14-12 at halftime.

Antigo outscored Clintonville 22-14 in the second half to earn a 10-point win.

The Truckers made 10 of 44 shots (22 percent) including 2 of 10 from 3-point range (20 percent) and 4 of 12 from the free throw line (33 percent). The team gathered 26 rebounds and earned 13 steals while blocking two shots and committing 15 turnovers.

Autumn Voigt led the team with 10 points and 18 rebounds with four steals and two blocks. Ali Johnson added eight points, five steals and three rebounds. Caitie Carpenter netted six points and grabbed four rebounds, while Chrissy Betz tallied two points.

Shawano 47, Clintonville 41
In another non-conference matchup, the Truckers took on the Shawano Hawks on Monday, Feb. 9. The Truckers, a Division 3 team, put up a good fight against the Hawks, who compete in Division 2. Unfortunately for Clintonville, the contest ended in a six-point loss.
