Arts board hosts Chick Night

The Waupaca Community Arts Board will celebrate the creativity of women when it hosts Chick Night at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Little Fat Gretchen’s in downtown Waupaca.

Admission is $12, and seating is limited.

The show will include musical performances, comedy, dance and poetry.

There will also be a group art project for all attendees to participate in, with its theme the interconnectedness of women.

This year’s “line-up” will include many first-time performers, as well as seasoned acts like Galynne Goodwill, Karmalita, Marci Beaucoup, Patricia Reckrey and Chick Night favorite Chainsaw Barbie featuring Barb Achten.

The night will end with a group song.

The proceeds from Chick Night help fund Arts on the Square, which this year, will be held on Aug. 14 and 15.

“Arts on the Square will be taking some big steps this year, adding some fun, interactive things, adding events on Thursday and bringing in national musical act Davina and the Vagabonds. What better way to support the arts than to attend arts events,” said WCAB President Marci Reynolds.

The WCAB is a nonprofit organization with a mission of “community building through the arts.”

Reynolds said while Chick Night celebrates the creativity of women, men are also invited.

“Little Fat Gretchen’s is, of course, famous for their luscious desserts, which will be served throughout the show, along with beverages including wine and beer,” she said.
