Truckers advance to regional final

It wasn’t pretty, but the Clintonville boys’ basketball team stayed alive in the WIAA state tournament March 6 with a 36-21 home win over Wittenberg-Birnamwood.

The Truckers will head to Peshtigo to face the Bulldogs at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 7, for a Division 2 regional championship.

Clintonville, which had a bye in the first round of the tournament, took a 7-5 lead into the second quarter and led 12-8 at halftime and 20-14 after three quarters before outscoring the Chargers 16-7 over the final eight minutes.

Tyler Petermann was the only player in the game to finish in double figures, as he led the Truckers with 12 points.
