Bechard, Rexford E.

Rexford E. Bechard, age 93 of Wild Rose died on Saturday, March 7, 2015. 

Rex was born on February 9, 1922 in Deer Creek, son of the late Joseph and Ethel (Spence) Bechard. He was a 1943 honor graduate of Bear Creek High School. Rex served in the US Marine Corps. He participated in the defense of the Midway Islands in 1942. On September 14, 1946, he was united in marriage to Alice Jones in Wild Rose. Rex owned and operated Rex’s Supermarket for almost four decades. He also worked as a realtor at the Egan Agency in Wautoma. Rex was an avid sportsman, including big and small game hunting as well as fishing. Rex liked to travel, play the accordion, dance to polka music, and spend time with his family. 

Rex is survived by his wife of 69 years, Alice; his children: David Bechard, Wild Rose; Dale (Kelly) Bechard, Appleton and Dawn (Brian) Burgess, Waupaca; his grandchildren: Alyson Bechard, Elizabeth (Jeff Thoren) Bechard, Jon Paul Bechard, Bleau (Sarah) Schneider, Crystal (Karl) Ascher, Andrea (Mark) La More, Justin (Andrea) Bechard, Rosanna (Mike) Lanting and Holly (Shane Patza) Bechard; 19 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, Patsy Bechard and other relatives. He was also preceded in death by many brothers and sisters. 

Funeral services for Rex will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Wild Rose Presbyterian Church with Pastor Alyson Janke, officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose and also on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Military rites will follow the services and burial will be at a later date in Caersalem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in the name of Rex Bechard.
