Clintonville looks to move up in EVC

A new year brings new hope for the Clintonville soccer team.

Last year, Clintonville finished second to last in the Eastern Valley Conference (EVC) with a 1-7 conference record and bowed out of the playoffs with a 10-0 loss to the Xavier Hawks, a soccer juggernaut that went undefeated in the conference last year while before falling in a State semi-final contest.

Senior Laken Wait will help lead the team this year, along with juniors Emily Krueger and Emily Klein. Sophomore Maddy Didier returns as the Truckers’ goalie again this year.

The team lost Kaitie Collier, Lynnea Johnson, Brianna Pfeiler, Jade Stilen, Sarah Tourville and Rachel Wisneski to graduation last spring.

Xavier is expected to be near the top of the EVC again this year, while competition will be tough throughout the top half of the standings.
