Street rehab projects begin

Construction work began last week on Waupaca’s West Fulton Street and Hillcrest Drive rehabilitation projects.

The Fulton Street project entails the repair of the failing concrete pavement joints, utility adjustments, pavement repair and preparation with grinding and pavement asphalt overlay.

One lane of traffic will be maintained in both directions throughout the project.

Periodic lane closures began Monday, April 13, with full lane closures beginning Monday, May 4.

This project is scheduled for completion by May 22.

The Hillcrest Drive project entails the complete removal of the existing pavement and base aggregate course and some minor storm sewer work. This reconstruction work is needed due to the aged and deteriorated condition of the pavement.

WE Energies began the installation of new natural gas mains along the south side of Hillcrest Drive.

The pavement will then be reconstructed with new curb and gutter.

This roadway will be closed to through traffic, with local resident access restricted at times.

A signed detour route along Fulton Street and Harrison Street will be in place.

This project is scheduled for completion later this spring/summer.

Access to driveways on Hillcrest Drive may be limited at times while work is taking place directly in front of properties.

Overnight parking will be allowed by the Waupaca Police Department on adjacent streets and in front of properties in the roadway when driveway access has been restricted.

Numerous businesses and services are being notified of this project, and service to properties will continue.

Those who have service delivery interruptions, issues or concerns should contact the businesses or service providers directly.
