Electronics recycling event scheduled for Friday in Waupaca

The city of Waupaca and Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce will host an electronics recycling event from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 24, at the Kmart parking lot, 830 W Fulton St.

The following items will be accepted free of charge: computers, servers, laptops, gaming systems, speaker systems, office phones, cell phones, tablets, PDAs, keyboards, mice, cords, printers, copiers, radios, treadmills, microwaves and stoves.

There will be a small fee for the following items: CRT computer monitors-$10 each (LCD monitors will be accepted at no cost); all televisions, $20 each; and freon-based refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers at $20 each.

Those bringing electronics to be recycled are asked to enter the Kmart parking lot off of Western Avenue and follow signs in the parking lot to the event entrance of the event where the fees will be collected.

City and chamber staff will be on hand to help unload items. Items do not need to be in boxes or wrapped up.

The city and chamber are working with R3NEW, a Neenah-based company that specializes in electronics recycling. Their services inlcude a hard-drive shredder and degausser that wipes clean all computer hard drives before recycling them. New for this year is toner recycling. Bauernfeind Business Technologies will be on site to collect at no charge empty toner cartridges, toner waste containers and unused toner. all toner cartridges and safely recycle them.
