The Wisconsin Association of Meat Processors recognized Niemuth’s Steak and Chop Shop of Waupaca with two awards at its 76th annual convention on April 9-12 in Madison.
Niemuth’s cheese summer sausage was named a Grand Champion and the shop’s natural casing wieners were named a Reserve Grand Champion.
The Wisconsin meat product competition is the largest of its kind in the United States.
More than 1,000 products in 36 categories from processors throughout the state were evaluated by 40 judges.
Categories included summer sausage, bratwurst, ham, bacon, smoked poultry and other meat products.
Products were scored for external appearance, internal appearance, aroma and taste, using a scale of 1,000 points.
