Weyauwega to flush water mains

The city of Weyauwega Water Department will complete its water main flushing program the week of May 4-8.

Residents are reminded to avoid running their water if they notice a city employee flushing a hydrant on their street.

Once the flushing of the hydrant is complete, residents should wait at least 30 minutes before running their water, to allow pressure to stabilize and to prevent sediment from being drawn into their plumbing.

Those who notice a slight discoloration in their tap water should remove and clean the tap screens and allow the water to run for a few minutes until the water is flushed clear.

The flushing program is necessary to maintain fire hydrants and to remove any rust and sediment that may be collecting in the underground water distribution system.
