Indians stay perfect in CWC-8

There’s still plenty of softball to be played in the Central Wisconsin 8 Conference this season, but Weyauwega-Fremont is apparently the team to beat.

The Indians improved to 6-0 in CWC-8 play April 27 and 12-2 overall with an 8-2 road win over Stevens Point Pacelli.

The Indians also split games with Wisconsin Lutheran and Kewaskum April 27 at the Weyauwega-Fremont Invitational and picked up recent win over Bonduel and Clintonville.

STEVENS POINT – Karissa Akey held the Cardinals to four hits, struck out 15 batters and had three of her team’s 13 hits.

The Indians took a 5-0 lead with runs in the second and third innings and three more in the fourth.

Pacelli scored twice in the fifth to cut the lead to 5-2, but the Indians added three runs in the seventh.

Hailey Krause homered for the Indians and drove in four runs, Liz Hillskotter had three hits and Rachel Knorr added a pair of hits.

WEYAUWEGA – Cadyn Ehrenberg and Karissa Akey had doubles against Wisconsin Lutheran and Kiley Akey got the win on the mound.

The Indians came up with runs in the third and seventh innings.

Kewaskum 2, W-F 1

WEYAUWEGA – W-F outhit Kewaskum 6-4, but came up short against the Indians. Miranda Potratz and Knorr had two hits and Ehrenberg took the loss.

Kewaskum scored twice in the top of the fourth and W-F came up with a run in the sixth.

W-F 10, Bonduel 0 (6 inn.)

WEYAUWEGA – Karissa Akey had three of the Indians’ 10 hits and drove in four runs to help lead the Indians over the Bears.

Neither team scored until the Indians scored eight times in the bottom of the fifth. W-F added two more runs in the sixth.

Kiley Akey got the win on the mound, held the Bears to three hits and didn’t allow a hit after the second inning. Jordan Rucks added two hits for the Indians.

W-F 13, Clintonville 3 (5 inn.)

WEYAUWEGA – W-F scored twice in the first inning and added five runs in the second and third frames to take a 13-0 lead in the nonconference matchup.

Clintonville scored three times in the fourth.

Jordan Krause drove in four runs and Ehrenberg got the win on the mound.

The Indians have road games at Amherst Thursday, April 30, and Shiocton Monday, May 4, before hosting Mosinee at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, in a game rescheduled from April 2.
