Weyauwega council amends city garbage collection contract

Harter’s Fox Valley Disposal is now picking up large household items twice a month in the city of Weyauwega.

That follows the Weyauwega Common Council’s decision last month to amend its contract with the garbage hauler.

Harter’s proposed expanding its service of picking up large household items from the third Thursday of the month to every other Wednesday.

The new schedule began on Wednesday, April 22.

Residents are still responsible for contacting Harter’s to schedule such a pick up, and pre-payment is required before the hauler picks up the items.

During the council’s April meeting, it also voted to purchase approximately .71 acres of land from Presto Products at a cost of $24,000.

City Administrator Patrick Wetzel reminded the council that two months ago, it authorized allowing him and the city attorney to negotiate the purchase of the property.

The land is directly adjacent to the city’s wastewater treatment plant and will facilitate a future stormwater pond and new river crossing for WE Energies electric poles and wires.

The site currently has a drainage creek on it for stormwater, and the city has maintained it the past few years, Wetzel said.
