Blankenburg, Hilton ?Buddy? A.

Hilton “Buddy” A. Blankenburg, age 91 of Embarrass passed away peacefully Monday morning, May 11, 2015 at the Pine Manor Health Care Center in Embarrass.

Buddy was born on January 6, 1924 in Oshkosh as the son of the late Arthur and Myrtle (Oneske) Blankenburg. Buddy was born with cerebral palsy which is a disorder usually caused by brain damage at or before birth. It causes muscular impairment and often poor circulation. Although this was a life-long impairment for Buddy, he never let it stop him from getting the most out of life. He grew up in the Appleton area where he attended school and was confirmed as a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Buddy lived with his parents and for many years built children’s dollhouses, barns, and garages for Easter Seal. Buddy later moved to Hales Corners before moving to Clintonville in 1997. He resided at Kindred Arms for a few years and has spent the last 14 years as a resident of Pine Manor. Buddy loved to eat and was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed listening to the Lawrence Welk Show and polka music on Sundays. Buddy loved the freedom he got from driving his electric wheelchair, and many at the Cloverleaf Lakes will remember him driving his pontoon boat “Wait-a-Minute” around the lakes. He was a faithful member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville. His contagious smile will be missed by all of his family and friends.

Survivors include: his sisters, Donna (Richard) Kunz, Clintonville, and June (Phil) Lowry, Reedsburg; nieces and nephews: Steve (Karin) Kunz, Franklin; Stewart (Janet) Kunz, Menominee Falls; Sandra (Todd) Vieth, Milton; Craig (Lori) Lowry, Greenfield; David (Cheryl) Lowry, Milwaukee; and Mark Lowry, Cudhay; great-nieces and great-nephews: Kyle, Ryan, Katherina, and Kayla Kunz, and Cody and Cheyenne Vieth. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dorothy Blankenburg. Buddy’s funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 12 p.m. at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville with Rev. Christian Burg officiating. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory of Clintonville is assisting his family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established by Buddy’s family.
