For the love of baking

Liza Steinmetz, Iola, and her daughter Jessica Ewald, have turned their love of baking into a home based business.

“When my children were little we would spend a lot of time in the kitchen,” said Steinmetz. “We have always had the passion to bake and decided to share that passion with others.”

“It brings the family together and it’s always a fun experience for my little ones,” added Ewald.

Steinmetz gives credit to her grandmother for her love of baking.

“She is the person that really got me started cooking,” said Steinmetz. “I have learned a lot from her. I love to cook everything, so my passion to bake has just intensified over the years and carried on to my daughter.”

Sweet Queens makes cupcakes, sugar cookie cutouts, breads, pies, bars, cookies, cheesecake, Bundt cake, and so much more.

According to Ewald, her mother does most of the baking, while she is responsible for the decorating.

“I have always wanted to make custom cakes and one day I just jumped in and started small by doing cupcakes,” said Ewald. “I have taught myself from watching You Tube videos and Internet. One day I hope to do cakes.”

Specialty items include cupcakes and cutout cookies.

“I want people to know that we love what we do,” said Ewald. “We put our heart into anything we make. What we enjoy the most is seeing the excitement on someone’s face. All our stuff is made with love.”

Both women agree that one day they have hopes of expanding.

“Eventually I would like to have a store front just trying to do something I enjoy and still stay home with my kids,” Ewald said.
