Hortonville kickers go 1-4

HORTONVILLE – The Hortonville High School girls’ continued its regular season last week, dropping two games after defeating Saint Mary Central on Friday, May 15.

The Saint Mary Central goalie had 26 saves against the Polar Bears. Despite that, the Polar Bears squeaked out a 3-2 win.

Hortonville’s Miranda Natrop, Rachel Swichtenberg, and Hannah Goulet each scored a goal for the Polar Bears. Assists went to Ella Metten, who had two, and Laura Burow.

Becka Pieper had five saves for Hortonville.

Hortonville hosted Appleton East on Tuesday, May 19 and fell 8-1.

Things were looking good only 20 seconds into the game as Natrop scored a goal for the Lady Polar Bears. Unfortunately that was the only goal they scored. Swichtenberg had the assist on that goal.

Pieper had 10 saves for Hortonville.

In another home game Thursday, May 21, the Polar Bears were beaten by Fond du Lac by a score of 2-1.

Fond du Lac scored first. Only two minutes later, Natrop countered and scored a goal for Hortonville, with an assist from Swichtenberg. Fond du Lac scored later in the game to take a 2-1 win.

Pieper had 11 saves for Hortonville, while Lauren Mertz had five saves.
