Paul “Pep” Edward Pope, Waupaca, Wisconsin, age 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Bethany Home in Waupaca, WI.
He was born February 25, 1925 in the Town of Lind, Waupaca Co., WI, son of Paul Nordeen and Lois Elizabeth (Sheard) Pope. Paul attended the State Graded School at Lind Center and graduated from Waupaca High School in 1943. In high school, he was active in the Future Farmers of America where he received his Wisconsin Farmers Degree and was elected state vice president for one year. Paul married Phyllis June Guyant on September 15, 1945 in the Town of Dayton and together they shared 66 years of marriage before her passing on February 5, 2012. He was a dairy farmer for all of his life on the family homestead in the Town of Lind where he won several awards for the production of high quality milk. Paul didn’t get much time away from the farm with all of the crops and milking of 40 cows, which is a far cry from the size of the herds today. But, he gave his family a good life at that. Paul served on the Lind Town Board for over 24 years, most of the time as Chairman. He had a passion for fishing, but his main passion was the study of Native American artifacts. He amassed a large collection of arrowheads, copper tools, axes and ornaments. Some of his collection was found on his farms.
Paul is survived by: children: Susan (Lee) Halverson of Iola, WI; Willis (Pat) Pope of Waupaca, WI; Connie (Robert) Andraschko of Waupaca, WI; Gay Romeis of Nevada; Kay (Dan) Stocker of Waupaca, WI; son-in-law, Kent Romeis of Scandinavia, WI; grandchildren: Paul (Stephanie) Halverson, Keith (fiancée, Colleen) Halverson, Holly (Jason) Hagen, Howard Pope, Mark (fiancée, Heather) Andraschko, Christopher (Donna) Andraschko, Joshua (girlfriend, Casey) Stocker, and Amy (Justin) Liszewski; great-grandchildren: Brady Halverson, Lauren Halverson, Drew Halverson, Caleigh Halverson, Grace Cummings, Michael Cummings, Megan Nicewander, Garrett Andraschko, Becca Andraschko, Lexi Suchomel-Stocker, Vegas Stocker, Rheannon Lubinski, Ariana Shook, Felix Liszewski, and Zoey Liszewski; sisters-in-law, Alice (Lee) Pastalan of Michigan and Marge Sawyer of Middleton, WI.
