Strawberry Fest on its way

Waupaca celebrates its first taste of summer with Strawberry Fest on Saturday, June 20.

The event runs all day in downtown Waupaca and includes activities for the entire family.CN-WP-strawberryfest-150611

Highlights of the Fest include a taste of Waupaca in Strawberry Lane Cafe, an art and craft show featuring 150 vendors from across the Midwest, a Strawberry Shortcake Eating Contest at noon, fresh strawberries and strawberry shortcake for sale and live entertainment in the bandstand on city square.

The Dixie Down Band will perform from 9 a.m. to noon from the historic bandstand in front of City Hall, followed by Orlow and CWB Band from 1-4 p.m.

Kid’s Alley in Rotary Riverview Park will host activities for children starting at 10 a.m. with Dizzy D Balloon Twister, bounce houses, face painting, a petting zoo, Lil’ Strawberry Sally and Sam Costume Contest at 11 a.m.

Registration starts at 8 a.m. for the third annual Waupaca Walks for Children at Strawberry Fest. The event raises funds for Waupaca Child Abuse Prevention. For more information, go to the Waupaca Family Resource Center’s Facebook page.

The Waupaca Chain Skiers are bringing back the Duck Races at 2:30 p.m. on the Waupaca River at Rotary Riverview Park.

Additional activities include Strawberry Days’ at Turners Fresh Market, Waupaca Historical Society open houses at the Holly History and Genealogy Center, the Hutchinson House Museum and the Waupaca Railroad Depot, and the Model Railroad Show at the Waupaca Recreation Center.
