Church, Ann Stromberg

Ann Stromberg Church, age 82, a resident of Wheaton, IL died on June 9, 2015 at Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield, IL.

She was born on February 14, 1933 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the oldest child of M. Jerome and Norma Stromberg. She grew up in Wauwatosa, WI, and attended Wheaton College (Class of ’56) majoring in Christian Education. She was teaching school in Southern California when she met fellow Wheaton grad Donald L. Church (’57). They were married on August 16, 1958, and made their residence (for 56 years) in Wheaton where Don worked as a coach at the College until his retirement in 1997. Ann spent her years raising her children and working periodically as an educator or administrative assistant in local schools. She spent her longest tenure as a secretary at Franklin Middle School. Ann was an avid reader and gardener, and enjoyed attending Artist Series events at Wheaton College. She was proud of her Norwegian-American heritage and enjoyed spending summers at her parents’ home near Waupaca, Wisconsin, on the banks of the Crystal River.

She is survived by her husband Don, and her three sons, David, Andy, and Tom; David’s wife, Paulyn, and granddaughter Chelsea; Tom’s wife, Alane, and grandchildren, Chad, Joshua, and Alyssa; and Andy’s partner, Andrew Cook. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Stromberg, of Iola and her sister, Sharon Hatton of Rural, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, at Faith Lutheran Church, 41 N. Park Blvd., Glen Ellyn, IL, 60137. The family will be receiving guests after the service. Interment will be private at the Rural Cemetery in Rural, Wisconsin.
