Sloniker, Louise M. Conway

Louise M. Conway Sloniker, age 77, of Grandview Heights, OH, formerly of Waupaca passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Kobacker House with her family by her side.

She was born October 12, 1937 in Waupaca, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Everett James and Verna Winifred (Guyant) Grant. Louise grew up on a dairy farm in Central Wisconsin and attended Parfreyville United Methodist Church for years. She began as a dietitian who worked at Wexner Heritage House and Thurber Village Nursing Centers for over ten years. Louise then became a Professor of the dietitian tech program at Columbus State retiring after 25 years.

She will be dearly missed by her husband of 28 years, Earl W. Sloniker; her children, Grant (Jean) Conway, Louisville, OH; Pamela (Brian) Pace and Brad (Karin) Conway, both of Columbus; her grandchildren, Elizabeth and Karaline Conway, Luisa and Noah Pace, Lilah and Graham Conway; sister, Janet K. Grant, Tacoma, WA; brothers, James (Mary) Grant and Gary (Patricia) Grant, both of Wisconsin; stepchildren: Wendy (James) Sayre, Erin (Steve)Jensen, Shana (Reece) Garrett, Donn (Sheila) Sloniker, Tim Sloniker, Verl Ann Sloniker, Dan Sloniker and Laura Santos; grandchildren: Hunter, Aaron, Jenna, Abigail and Triston Sayre; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepson, David Sloniker.

Louise was a graduate of University of Wisconsin at Stout (formerly Stout State Univ.) and received her Master’s degree in Dietetics from The Ohio State University. She and her husband Earl volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels for over 20 years. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was active in their mission work and preparing food for the homeless and for church dinners. She was a member of the PBJ group, who made sandwiches for the homeless and also volunteered time in the Clothing Room at New Hope United Methodist Church. She loved square dancing, especially with Earl for the past 30 years.

Funeral Services will be held at Parfreyville United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 20th, 2015 with Brenda Hewitt, officiating. Interment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Town Belmont, Portage Co., WI. Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parfreyville United Methodist Church in her memory. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
