Justin L. Nachtrab, 28, Omro, was charged with burglary and theft.

On April 3, Deputy Patrick Gorchals, with the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, was dispatched to an apartment on Harrington Road in rural Waupaca.

Gorchals spoke to the resident who said someone broke into his detached storage unit and stole an electric trolling motor, a battery and two fishing poles.

He suspected Nachtrab because he caught him on his property another time, but since nothing was stolen he had not reported it.

Gorchals passed the information on to Deputy Tim Myers, who found that a trolling motor with the same serial number had been pawned at a shop in Appleton.

On May 3, Gorchals interviewed Nachtrab at the Winnebago County jail.

According to the criminal complaint, Nachtrab admitted to having the trolling motor after Gorchals showed him the pawn shop receipt, but denied knowing anything about the other missing items.
