Wedde, Leroy K.

Leroy K. Wedde, age 86 of Marion passed away Sunday evening, July 19, 2015 at the Shawano Medical Center.

Leroy was born in Crandon, WI on January 29, 1929 as the son of the late Albert & Marie (Nordwig) Wedde. As a young child he moved with his family to Clintonville where he graduated from high school.

Leroy honorably served his country in the United States Army for 3 ½ years in the early 1950s. As a member of the Security Agency, Leroy was given the task to send the 1st message to start the peace talks that ended the Korean War. Leroy became a part owner of T& W Tap in Clintonville for a short time before accepting a position as an engineer at Seagrave FWD in Clintonville. He was united in marriage to Carol Major on October 25, 1958 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marion where they were still current members. Leroy was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #53 for many years. He kept a meticulous garden and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with the community. Leroy enjoyed traveling with Carol, and as an outdoorsman, spent lots of time hunting and fishing.

Survivors include: His Wife: Carol. A Sister: Marceedas Sullivan, New London. A Brother-in-Law: Eugene Major, Preston, MN. Also numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Lucille (Claude) Sanders, brothers Earl & Vernon (Gladie) Wedde, brothers-in-law James Sullivan & James (Jean) Major, and a sister-in-law Joyce Major.

Leroy’s funeral service will be held Friday, July 24, 2015 at 11 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marion with Rev. Ty Stoneburner officiating. Interment will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery also in Marion.
