Associated Bank branch to close

Closure in Embarrass slated for the fall

By Bert Lehman

The Associated Bank branch in Embarrass will be one of six branches in Wisconsin to close in the fall.

Associated Bank made the announcement in a press release on July 17.

Digital banking, transaction trends, and proximity to other Associated locations were factors in the decision, the press release stated.

“We continuously analyze and evolve our deliver model to ensure we are matching the preferences of our customers and their banking patterns,” said Dave Stein, executive vice president and head of Consumer and Commercial Banking. “In some cases that analysis results in our strategic investment, such as the 13 state-of-the-art branch operations we built in the past year and the numerous others we upgraded. In this situation requiring a different strategy, it’s critical that we acknowledge local markets dynamics and optimize our system by consolidating branches with others nearby.”

The press release also stated that Associated will work directly with the employees affected by the closures to “review opportunities for other positions within the organization.”

Cliff Bowers, senior vice president/director of public relations for Associated, told the Tribune-Gazette that four employees will be affected by the Embarrass closure. He said an exact date for the closure has not been announced.

Bowers also said Associated is recommending that customers of the Embarrass branch use the Associated Bank branch in Shawano once the closure takes place.
