Community Hero Night at Iola library

Firefighters, police, National Guard and charity groups to attend

The end of this year’s summer library program, “Every Hero Has a Story,” will honor some community heroes.

Community Hero Night is from 6-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Iola Village Library.

Children and their parents are invited to visit with members of local organizations.

There will be representatives from the police and fire departments, National Guard, the Iola-Scandinavia Community Fitness & Aquatic Center, Iola Community Garden, Matthew 25:35 Food Pantry, a farm family, and the Iola Lions and Lioness clubs.

Also attending will be the Humane Society of Waupaca County and “One Small Drop,” the two charities children are reading for this summer.

Children will be able to see up close and touch a police car, fire truck, ambulance and the village’s front-end loader.

This is also everyone’s chance to be a “hero” and help someone else in our community by bringing a food item for the local Matthew 25:35 Food Pantry. The library is accepting donations for the food pantry the entire week of Aug. 3-7.

The Iola Village Library is located at 180 S. Main St., Iola. For questions or more information, call 715-445-4330.
