Gas line rupture in Clintonville

Homes evacuated, nobody injured

At 12:42 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, construction workers accidently ruptured a gas line at the intersection of Main and East 12th streets in Clintonville.

Clintonville Fire, Street, and Water and Utility Department personnel responded to and secured the downtown area.

The affected area was secured until the leak was repaired by WE Energies.

Downtown business owners and customers as well as residents in nearby homes were evacuated until approximately 1:40 p.m. when they were allowed back into the area.

No damage occurred to any homes or businesses as a result of the leak.

Emergency personnel stood by until the area was cleared and determined safe.
