Clintonville defeats Shawano

Truckers win hard-fought volleyball game

The Clintonville Truckers won their Trucker Invite on Saturday, Sept. 19, defeating Shawano in the championship match in a hard fought three-set battle.

Shawano won the first set 25-17. Not about to be denied, the Truckers won set two 25-21 and closed out the match with a 15-7 set three win.

The Truckers finished the day 4-1, defeating Gladstone, St. Mary Central, Abbotsford, and Shawano. Their only loss on the day was to Valders in a three-set battle.

CLINTONVILLE – The Truckers had a tough night at home, where the varsity and JV teams all lost to Wrightstown on Thursday, Sept. 17.

Clintonville 3, Algoma 1
ALGOMA – Algoma won the first set 25-20 off of tips to numerous areas the varsity Truckers left open, but with some adjustments to the defense the Truckers plugged those holes and rebounded on Sept. 15.

Truckers coach Lance Bagstad said the girls finished out the game with strong serving, passing and defense.

“We really controlled the tempo and flow of the action, which allowed us to run in our system and forced Algoma to play a lot of out of system,” Bagstad said.

Vs. Algoma (win): 20-25, 30-28, 25-18, 25-13.
