Soup in Art Bowls at depot

Handmade bowls, homemade soup, sing-alongs

The Waupaca Community Arts Center will present its fourth annual Soup in Art Bowls from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Old Waupaca Railroad Depot.

The soup will be served at 11 a.m.

The event, which is a fundraiser for the arts center, will feature four kinds of soup: vegetable beef with barley, vegetarian minestrone, chicken gnocchi and chicken fajita.

The event costs $20 and includes a hand-painted bowl, choice of soup, homemade bread and homemade desserts.
Beverages will be available at an additional cost.

“We have bowls painted by artists with new ones coming in every week,” said Dianne Veeser.

People may visit the arts center at 200 N. Main St. and then choose their bowl.
The center is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

“That is their ticket to the event,” Veeser said of the bowls.

Bowls may also be available on the day of the event.

In addition to the $20 cost, there will be a $5 paper bowl option for children accompanied by paying adults.
There will be takeout soup available for $6.50.

The Oct. 3 event will also include facepainting for children, rides in an old automobile and a player piano sing-a-long.

Memorabilia from the railroad depot will be for sale, and there will be art vendors as well, weather permitting.

A portion of the proceeds from Soup in Art Bowls will support the Old Waupaca Railroad Depot, which is located at 525 Oak St.
