Waupaca girls edge T-Birds by one point

Little Chute and Peshtigo won boys’ and girls’ championships, respectively, Oct. 1 at the Waupaca Invitational at Waupaca High School.

The Waupaca boys’ placed sixth, while Weyauwega-Fremont placed seventh. The Waupaca girls edged Iola-Scandinavia by a point to place fourth, while Weyauwega-Fremont finished ninth.

Team scores for the boys were Little Chute (34), Winneconne (102), Amherst (104), Fox Valley Lutheran (105), Peshtigo (113), Waupaca (125), Green Lake/Princeton (170), St. Mary Catholic (188), Marinette (193), Wrightstown (248) and Weyauwega-Fremont (328).

Team scores for the girls were Peshtigo (66), Winneconne (80), Fox Valley Lutheran (113), Waupaca (133), Iola-Scandinavia (134), Little Chute (149), Marinette (154), Amherst (169), Weyauwega-Fremont (178), Wrightstown (236) and St. Mary Catholic (239).

Placing for the Waupaca boys were Mitchell Rotta (fourth, 17:15); Hunter Smith (eighth, 17:50); Ryan Esch (22nd, 18:54); Danny Esch (44th, 19:39); Ben Waitrovich (47th, 19:51); Sam Christie (52nd, 20:50); and Dayton Bell (57th, 21:11).

Placing for the Weyauwega-Fremont boys were Duane Brazil (43rd, 19:36); Austin Baehnman (69th, 22:20); Glenn Walborn (71st, 23:33); Logan Feltz (72nd, 23:39); and Chris Strehlow (73rd, 23:48).

Iola-Scandinavia did not field a full boys’ team, but Erick Kriewaldt placed 21st in 18:42 and Trenton Niemi finished 117th in 24:03.

Placing for the Waupaca girls were Michelle Petkovsek (12th, 21:04); MacKenzie Schultz (27th, 22:41); Ashley Jeske (29th, 22:45); Victoria Nowak (31st, 22:49); Mya Snyder (34th, 23:00); Kristin Petkovsek (43rd, 23:40); and Lexi Tripp (71st, 27:53).

Placing for the Iola-Scandinavia girls were Erika Kisting (second, 19:20); Leighten Fischer (third, 20:19); Jada Beacom (18th, 21:46); Natalie Rustad (48th, 24:04); and Haley Ullom (63rd, 25:21).

Placing for the Weyauwega-Fremont girls were Caragan Volz (13th, 21:06); Daisy Wilson (21st, 22:02); Marlen Leyva (37th, 23:09); Saylor Alberts (49th, 24:08); Natalie Schneider (58th, 24:39); Paige Kempf (67th, 26:13); and Emily Durrant (70th, 27:45).
